Scenario: John Doe is assigned a new telephone number 1499. His old number is 1170 and needs to remain active for awhile. Incoming calls to either number need to follow same coverage path including Send All Calls activation. In other words, a caller must be able to reach John Doe by dialing either his new number (1499) or his old number (1170). The calls will all go to the new John Doe telephone or to his Audix. Call Coverage will follow the setting for 1499 including the Send Calls regardless of which number (new or old) the caller dialed. John Doe Audix number is now 1499. His password is unchanged. How to remedy: In Audix, existing John Doe mailbox gets changed to the new number and the old number is retained as secondary so that calls to either number get the same voice mailbox. Intuity Audix allows for an easy subscriber number change and subsequent addition of a secondary number. Here's how: -Change subscriber 1170 (John Doe). Ext.=1499. On same page, secondary ext.=1170. The Definity does not let you change an extension number. You must duplicate the extension and delete the old one. Then you have to create a hunt group using the old ext. number and direct it's calls to the new extension number. Here's how: -Duplicate Station 1170. Ext.=1499. Port=X. Name=John Doe. -List Usage Extension 1170 will show what group(s) (pickup...etc...) 1170 is in. These do not duplicate to 1499 and will need to be added manually (Change Pickup Group...etc...). -Remove Station 1170. Note the port number before you remove! -Change Station 1499. Port=same as 1170 before it was removed in previous step. -Add Hunt-Group Next. Group Extension=1170. Coverage Path=same as 1499. Group Member Ext=1499 (on page 3 of form). NOTE: One small bug. Calls to the old number go to cover (Audix) when ANY line is busy at the John Doe telephone. Calls to the new number go to cover when 2 lines are busy at the John Doe telephone. After the transition period is over. You can remove the Audix Secondary number for John Doe and the Hunt-Group can be removed too.
